Amy Voloshin, the daughter of industrial designers, always knew she would pursue a career in the creative field. After earning a degree in Textiles from the Rhode Island School of Design, she went on to work behind the scenes in the fashion industry for more than 10 years before bringing her love of patterns and joyful prints to the world of sleepwear. In 2016, Amy and her husband, Leo Voloshin, co-founded Printfresh, where she creates pajamas using interesting and eye-catching designs inspired by nature and home décor. After building the business for several years, a journey that included loyal customers, pivots, and changes, Printfresh has grown into a lifestyle brand, expanding beyond sleepwear into designs that can be worn outside of the house.

2023 Inner City 100 Business Growth Award Winner

Printfresh was honored with the Inner City 100 Business Growth Award for the second consecutive year. This award recognizes the fastest-growing business on the 2023 Inner City 100 (IC100) list, based on percentage revenue growth from 2018 through 2022. Printfresh achieved a remarkable growth rate of 5,280% since 2018, making it the number one ranked company on the IC100 list.

Amy Voloshin expressed her appreciation: “It’s an honor to be included in such an amazing group of businesses. ICIC has created such an impactful way to be recognized for creating a business in the inner city.”

Ron Homer, Chairman of ICIC’s Board, who presented the award at ICIC’s Annual Conference, reflected: “The Business Growth Award is a testament to the incredible journey of Printfresh and its founders. As we celebrate 25 years of the Inner City 100, we honor businesses like Printfresh that exemplify how small businesses can be engines of community impact and contribute to a healthy, inclusive economy.”

Brand Consistency and Company Values as a Platform for Growth

Printfresh has found that being laser-focused on the look of their clothing and maintaining consistency has helped them grow. Amy notes: “We are all about wild, iconic prints. And I think that that’s what sets us apart in the marketplace. You don’t find a Printfresh print on anything else. I think that customers know what to expect from us. And we find that customers come back time and time again.” Another important factor is listening to their customers and what they need, as shown in their expansion beyond pajamas to other apparel.

Printfresh also focuses on sustainability throughout the design cycle, from purchasing materials to using organic plant-based fabrics. Size inclusion is another key component of their brand. Offering sizes from XXS to 6X as well as petite and tall options, Printfresh focuses on having the best quality organic sleepwear for the size-inclusive community.

In addition to sustainability and size inclusion, giving back is an important value that Printfresh strives to achieve. In 2021, the company joined Pledge 1%, a global movement that empowers companies to be a force for good by committing resources towards philanthropic endeavors. Beyond supporting organizations like the Made Institute, Printfresh encourages team members to give their time to the local and global community. Leo Voloshin, co-founder and CEO, does this not only in Philadelphia, where the company is based but also among entrepreneurial communities nationwide. In 2023, as part of ICIC’s alumni network, ICAN, he participated in a panel on digital marketing, sharing with other business owners his experience and insights into the company’s growth process from the lens of social media.

Making a Difference

Printfresh’s growth journey, from crafting unique pajamas in 2016 to winning the 2023 Inner City 100 Business Growth Award (again) is a clear story of hard work paying off. With a staggering 5,280% growth since 2018, Printfresh has evolved from a pajama-focused brand to a versatile lifestyle label. Printfresh’s focus on distinctive prints and brand consistency has set them apart in the market. Their dedication to sustainability, size inclusion, and giving back has solidified their position not just as a business success but as a socially responsible brand. As Printfresh continues to grow, it’s evident that their recipe for success lies in a simple yet powerful combination of listening to customers, staying true to their values, and embracing innovation. The future holds endless possibilities for Printfresh, a company that has proven that growth isn’t just about numbers but about making a real difference.
