Every year, ICIC identifies and supports the 100 fastest-growing inner city businesses. These businesses, led by some of today’s most creative entrepreneurs, create good jobs where they are needed most. The list is published annually in FORTUNE magazine.

Now celebrating its 18th year, the Inner City 100 program has a roster of over 800 inspiring, successful alumni businesses. The 2016 Inner City 100 Conference and Awards was held on September 14, 2016, in Boston. Learn more about this year’s program.

  • Annual revenue: $27 million
  • Number of employees: 137
  • 5-year growth rate: 425%
  • Alumni companies hail from over 170 cities across the country

The Inner City 100 program spotlights and supports companies in underserved urban areas by providing them with access to national visibility, executive education, and networking opportunities . The program culminates with the annual Inner City 100 Conference and Awards where winning companies gather for a full day of management education and an unveiling of the Inner City 100 rankings. In 2016, this daylong event was held on September 14 in Boston, with thought-provoking case studies from leading business school faculty and CEOs. Qualified businesses have the following characteristics:

  • Are a privately owned, for-profit company
  • Have been in operation for at least five years
  • At least $100K in annual revenue in 2011, and at least $1M in annual revenue in 2015
  • Headquartered in an inner city
  • At least 10 full time employees
