As an Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) Associate, Monsurat provides support to the ICCC team and the small business executives and coaches who ICCC engages through the program. In her role, she strives to build strong networks between inner city CEOs and stakeholders of the small business community though regular communication and engagement.
Prior to ICIC, Monsurat worked as a Development and Resource Coordinator for YouthBuild Preparatory Academy, where she developed their Corporate Partnership Packet and coordinated fundraising and marketing strategies as the organization sought to rebrand itself to incorporate a broader scope of programming. Additionally, Monsurat has clerked, and interned at multiple law firms and legal aid programs, including Rhode Island Legal Services, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice, Lovejoy and Associates, and the Law Office of Dawn Euer. She also spent a year externing for the Honorable O. Rogeriee Thompson in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and served for two years on the Board for the Rhode Island Urban Debate League.
Currently, she sits on Mayor Elorza’s Muslim Advisory Board, is a Disaster Response Volunteer with the American Red Cross, and is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the Rhode Island Mediators Association.
Monsurat has a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law, Certificates in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from the Community College of Rhode Island, and a B.A. from Boston College in Human Development: Community Advocacy and Social Policy with minors in Faith, Peace, and Justice and Black Studies.
